William Cross, FSA Scot, author of several books on the Carnarvons of Highclere, reveals a trail of lies, deceit and hypocrisy by biographers of Almina, 5th Countess of Carnarvon.

William Cross, FSA Scot, author of several books on the Carnarvons of Highclere Castle , investigates  the story of  the missing biography of Almina, Countess of Carnarvon, written by Rev. H. David Sox, a visitor  guide at Highclere Castle in the 1990s. The biography was never published.  Cross reveals why and investigates the trail of lies, deceit and hypocrisy by Sox and other biographers in writing the controversial life  of Almina, 5th Countess of Carnarvon.

William Cross, FSA Scot was born in 1953 at Lanark, Clydeside, Scotland. Educated in Scotland and at the Universities of London and Southampton. Also a graduate of the University of Wales, Caerleon. Married with two sons, proud of having two Welsh grandchildren. Retired civil servant, 1967-2005, working in revenue expatriate and tax investigations throughout the UK, mainly London. Lived in Newport, Gwent since 1999. A writer, & lecturer author/ co- author of numerous scandal mongering books on members of the Morgan family of Tredegar House, & as many salacious books on the Herberts ( Carnarvons ) of Highclere Castle ( the backdrop to Downton Abbey ) and stories about two darn cats. He is a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland & a member of the Society of Authors.
