Oct/Nov 1922 : Lord Carnarvon’s horses ride at HaydockPark and Newmarket Races

28 October 1922 : Howard Carter  at Armant to consult his friend Arthur ‘Pecky’ Callender, ex manager Egyptian railways

Arthur Robert Callender ( 1875-1936) was a close friend of Howard Carter in Alexandria. Part of Carter’s ‘Tut’ team

4-5 November 1922:  At Luxor stone steps found and cleared in the bed rock floor of a water course below entrance of Ramesses VI

6  November 1922 : Howard Carter’s telegram to Lord Carnarvon  at  HighclereCastle.

Carter’s Telegram “ AT LAST HAVE MADE WONDERFUL DISCOVERY IN THE VALLEY. A MAGNIFICENT TOMB WITH SEALS INTACT. RECOVERED SAME FOR YOUR ARRIVAL. CONGRATULATIONS. CARTER.”

6 November 1922:  Almina, Lady Carnarvon living it up with Colonel  Ian Dennistoun ( later her 2nd husband) in Paris

6-10 November 1922 : Lord Carnarvon consults with archaeologist  Alan H Gardiner & senior  figures in  The Times newspaper

11-12 November 1922 :  Lord Carnarvon and Lady Evelyn Herbert  are  in London ( from Highclere) Almina has returned  from Paris.

11-12 November 1922 :  Almina consults Dr Marcus Johnson and surgeon Berkeley  Moynihan over Earl’s serious  health condition

13 November 1922 :  Lord Carnarvon presides over a reception/ luncheon for the Emir Abdullah of Transjordania at the Carlton Hotel

13 November 1922 : Court Circular announces “  The Earl of Carnarvon has left London for Egypt” with Lady Evelyn Herbert and staff

14-19 November 1922 : Lord Carnarvon and party at sea en route to Egypt via France and Alexandria.

18 November 1922 : Lord Carnarvon, a frail figure, departs Marseilles for the port of Alexandria, watched over by Lady Evelyn Herbert

18 November 1922 : Tutankhamun Time Line Minnie Burton records in her diary " Mr Carter arrives" [ from Luxor ]

19 November 1922 :  In Cairo Lord Carnarvon's inner circle gather for his arrival, Howard Carter ( from Luxor), Minnie & Harry Burton ( from Florence)

21 November 1922  : Cairo:  Tutankhamum Time Line.   The dying Lord Carnarvon arrives in Cairo on 21 November 1922...   Minnie Burton records in her diary " Lord Carnarvon arrived, with Lady Evelyn"

21 November, 1922; Cairo : Carnarvon arrives with Lady Evelyn Herbert & Carter gets in the essential supplies

21 November 1922: Cairo:  Tutankhamun Time Line: Howard Carter orders up crates of his favourite whisky.

21 November 1922  Cairo :  Tutankhamun Time Line : Minnie Burton visits a Greek Grocer to gather in more booze for Howard Carter          

22 November 1922 :  Tutankhamun Time Line At Luxor Carter's assistant Arthur Callander stands by on clearance of Tomb stairway

22 November 1922 :  Tutankhamun Time Line:   Carter, Lord Carnarvon and Lady Evelyn Herbert make ready to leave Cairo for Luxor

23 November  in 1922. After a uneasy train ride from Cairo, Lord Carnarvon & Lady Evelyn Herbert  and Howard Carter  arrive in Luxor. 

24 November 1922:  Howard Carter & 'Pecky' Callender oversee clearance of the stairway and corridor leading to Tut's Tomb.

25 November 1922:  Under the guise of continuing to clear the  corridor  leading to the Tomb of the Boy King,   Howard Carter, Lord Carnarvon, Lady Evelyn Herbert, Pecky Callender and several native workers enter the  inner rooms of the Tomb.

26 November 1922 : The exploration of the Tomb continues. After the antechamber is breached  they enter the Burial Chamber. Lady Evelyn Herbert as the smallest proceeds first.   Carter records this day the    " Day of Days".
